Antique 1913 Walker & Hall Sterling Silver Double Handled Compote With Reticulated & Engraved Foliate Decoration, 595 Grams

This elegant Edwardian solid sterling double handled compote was made in Sheffield, England by Walker & Hall. The piece features a gothic-style reticulated lattice motif & engraved foliate pendants. The handles have an organic segmented branch design with a series of spherical beads at the middle. The stem bears a large knop at the center & has a stepped domed base. The compote is in excellent condition with no repairs or monograms. As an antique, the piece shows minor signs of age including slight scratches & tarnish noted for accuracy. The compote stands 5.5" tall to the top of the rim & 5.625" to the top of the handles. It is 7.5" across the rim & 10.75 " across as measured from the widest point of the handles. The foot is 4" in diameter. The exterior wall of the bowl is fully hallmarked & includes a crown mark indicating the Sheffield Assay Office, the lion passant indicating sterling silver fineness, the letter "v" indicating production in 1913, & the Walker & Hall "W & H" pennant maker's mark. The underside bears a British Registry Design Number reading "RD 611049" indicating issue between 1912 & 1913, & the number "15". The piece weighs 595 grams.
