Exceptional Art Nouveau ceramic vase by Jan Willem Mijnlieff, founder & master ceramist of Fayence - en Tegelfabriek Holland, the iconic Utrecht factory active between 1893 & 1920. Its design shows herons in full flight over a beautiful flower-filled lake. J.W. Mijnlieff, one of the great Dutch glazed earthenware ceramists, influenced Dutch decorative ceramics & brought his works to great collections around the world, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, reflecting his skill & contribution to the Art Nouveau movement in the Netherlands. in this beautiful piece, Mijnlieff captured the essence of nature with fluid brushstrokes & great depth in blue tones. The base of the vase is marked "Holland Utrecht". A collector's item that unites history, art & craftsmanship.
