Hand-Carved Small Statue of Shakyamuni Buddha Art This small statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is hand-carved in our studio, Kathmandu. The deity is depicted sitting on a lotus seat with a calm expression holding an alms bowl in his right hand, & his left hand is an earth-touching mudra. We molded the statue from a copper body, gilded the entire figure with 24k gold, & used an acrylic painting to pint his hair & the features of his face. He claimed to have then proceeded to a deer park in Sarnath (Benares), India, on the outskirts of Varanasi.
