This is a beautiful large piece of reclaimed antique rare early solid cherry wood ~ a side rail off an old 18th century rope bed. It still has the knobs, most intact & all very tight with a few that are not whole, & on either end are the square bolt pegs. There is a short tight age hairline on one end but it is solid & doesn't detract from its use. 72 " (beam part) - (74) " (mortise part) long with 14 knobs & the sides are 3.5 , 4, & 4.5 " wide as it is beveled full length. It retains its original early red stain over the cherry with its early dry patina. It is a great architectural salvage beam for a retooled construction project ~ maybe a cherry small mantle beam, or could be used suspended horizontally on a wall for a coat rack, as well from kitchen to bath to garden or mud porch for hanging gear, dog leashes, aprons, & antique garden tools.
