A lot of time & effort has been put into creating this piece: The copper rectangle waterfall rocks were each cut separately, shaped individually, & then brazed together into one solid form. This adds an abstract beauty & also makes them very strong; as each is piece brazed (torch heated) onto the next, which reinforces the bond with the metal of each piece as it is attached to the one before it & so on... It was then sanded, & further torch colored/heated to bring out the varied copper color tones on the copper itself. The tuna were created with the sheet metal sculpture technique of Chasing & Repousse & patina effects were added for stunning contrasts. It flows with a downward waterfall rambling-meandering that sounds like a gentle soft tinkling-trickling stream... & it is as pretty to see as it is to hear. Though they are intended to be Bluefin Tuna (who roam the Atlantic Ocean & Mediterranean Sea) they can also be seen differently; & thought of as (or seen as) the Pacific Bluefin or Southern Bluefin Tuna Fish. Aside from generally being thought of as a food source & prized as such, tuna, particularly Blue Fin Tuna, are amazing creatures; fast, strong, very large, in excess of 1500 pounds, & are apex predators built for long yet speedy hauls over the expansive seas, & have been a source of admiration for fishermen, writers, scientists, & onlookers alike. Though by virtue of each piece being handmade, all are essentially "one-of-a-kind pieces" yet some that take much more time and/or material I designate as not to be reproduced, & this piece is one such item.
