Rare 1870S Figural Bronze Ornate Door Knob Rosette Backplate Escutcheon Architectural Salvage Antique Russell Erwin Hardware Company

This rare antique cast bronze escutcheon residential entrance passage door backplate was made in the 1870s. By the Russell & Erwin Mfg. Hardware Co. Marked on face mount, Pat Jan 25, 1870 It has an original antiqued bronze copper tone patina yet the details are still easy to see. It shows aged oxidation & verdigris patina. It measures 6 1/2 " tall x 2 1/4 " wide at largest point. The swinging keyhole cover moves freely from side to side ~ these were sometimes broken off. The last photo is an example only of a Russell & Erwin's best & rarest made to compliment their famous doggie doorknob, (at 600) no longer available.
