Measures: -Height: 5.9" / 15cm -Width: 9.0" / 23cm -Circumference: 24.4" / 62cm This piece come from Tlahuitoltepec, a hidden village in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, known for its hills, mountains & clouds. The process begins with the collection of clay, which has a rubbery, wet consistency. Rocks containing minerals specific to the region are carved & fired for about 10 hours, then pulverized & added to the clay. It is usually a family activity. After several days of soaking, the clay is kneaded by hand & the artisans begin the creation process. Once finished, the piece rests & basks in the sun for a couple of days before being burned in the open air with ocote wood. This last step brings out the characteristic colors & stains of the piece, delighting all who participate in its creation. #NOTES: -Measurements are approximate due to the fact that they are handmade pieces. -There may be a slight color variation due to lighting conditions & color calibration of each monitor.
