This is a hard to find Joe's Orbit Compote Candy Dish, Center Compote that's made of glass stone & metal. The base itself weighs a whopping 3 pounds. Joe's Orbit, founded by eccentric artist Joe Boron in the early 1990's & operated from a Baltimore warehouse, quickly became known for home accents with whimsical, quirky, futuristic designs. Joe's pieces included lamps, vases, mirrors, frames, candlesticks, salt shakers, decorative bowls, & small tables. After about three years, the company changed its name to Joey Manic, most famously known for its space age designed lamps, tables & chairs. Sadly, Joey Manic lasted only a brief time. Joe Boron's pieces are now highly collectible. This pedestal compote candy dish bowl is one of a kind! Vintage condition with wear from the ages & use. 5 1/2" tall, The bowl has 8" diameter & sits 6" tall in wire cradle, bowls weight is solid 13 oz & has its wear with frosting wearing in sections but dont see any damage. Stone base is 8" long x 5" deepest part & 1 1/2" thick. Bowl & base have Orbit stickers. The bowl will bounce up & down when prodded. Nice glass orb incorporated into the wire cradle. Guessing made 1990's. Cool Joe Boron Artsy Bowl!! Shipping prices for lower 48 states. May ship this separately/ two packages bowl & base, will have better idea when packing.
