We are privileged to be offering for sale this exquisite Vintage sculptural art handmade brutalist texture decorative ceramic vase by listed artist GAIL MARKIEWICZ. C,1980's . The design is hand- carved clay in a gorgeous patchwork motif , airbrushed & hand - painted in glaze texture finish . Measures : 18.0 w x 18.0 d 12.0 h / inches in excellent condition , normal marks consistent with age / no chips . Please see all photos for additional details . I am trying to show defects , but if you have any questions , please contact me. ABOUT THIS ARTIST: GAIL MARKIEWICZ Markiewicz discovered clay about 30 years ago. From that moment on, she fell in love with the medium. She has often said that her biggest love was the way she could manipulate the clay with textures & carvings.She combines textures & carvings into a patchwork clay quilt & makes it into a sculptural form - an invitation to caress. Each piece takes several weeks to make due to the artist's multi-step process. First, Markiewicz mus roll out pieces of clay & imprint textures into each individual piece. These are then"stitched"together with clay slip so that they begin to form a"quilt. Finally,she shapes the parts into a sculptural vessel.
