This large pitcher-shaped vase is a product of the Potiers d'Accolay. It features a colorful design of vine leaves & bunches of grapes on a speckled gray-beige background. Its raw, rustic look blends perfectly with a country or boho ambiance, or will contrast well in a more refined setting. The ceramic is beautifully crafted, with a raw yet rustic feel. It is a good size & in excellent condition. The Accolay water or wine jug is signed with a stylus on the back. 6 to 16cm in diameter, 18cm in height. in the middle of the 20th century, Accolay was the setting for a real revolution in ceramics. Four former students of Alexandre Kostanda settled in the small village in Yonne in the mid-1940s, & many potters followed their example. For around forty years, the production of the Accolay potters was impressive, original & daring.
