Rare Antique Cast Iron Scottish Terrier Doorstop, Original Condition C1920, Dog Lover Gift, Scottie Lover, Decor, Country Style

This is a rare cast iron doorstop in the form of a faithful "Sitting Scottie." It was made by Sculptured Metal Studios in the 1920s & is featured on pg. 148 of Schiffer's The Doorstop Book by John C. & Nancy M. Smith, copyright 2006. The doorstop measures approximately 6.5" tall x 9" wide & weighs a hefty 4lbs 6oz. The doorstop is structurally solid with no signs of damage or repairs & it displays very well. I love the sculptural details that bring out the personality of this old faithful dog. The black paint appears to be all original & largely intact with some surface wear consistent with age & use. There are some scratches on the front (which gives the Scotties a brindle-like coat!) & scattered spots of rust mostly on & around the legs & on the base. There is also some surface dirt which I did not try to remove since I rather like the naturally worn patina. The old felt pads remain on the bottom of the doorstop. (See photos for best understanding of condition.) Overall this is a charming & very unique piece of Americana. (I could only find a handful of these when I was doing my research.) It would make a great addition to any antique dog or doorstop collection & the perfect gift for a dog lover (particularly a Scottie owner)! in the Doorstop Book this item is valued at $550-$750). I am pricing this guy lower given the surface imperfections & to find him another home where he can perhaps join some other Scotties!
