Vintage Saggar Pottery Art Bowl Handmade Planter Vase~ Boho Raku Fire Pit Technique~White Gray Black Smoke Signal Design~Natural Ash

A wonderful, plant or display pot of white porcelain that's been fired in a pit/~ This type of pottery is called Saggar~ a wonderful display piece of Clay art. Measurements approximately 6 inches wide.x 3 inches tall~ The photos my be a bit cloud, but actually it's a white porcelain with smoky grays to blackened charcoal, with a great patina that does resemble smoke clouds mixed with a blazer fire effect~ it's so Cool! The saggar was a fundamental part of the growth of the pottery industry in Stoke-on-Trent. The 'bottle kilns' of the time largely produced heat by burning coal, resulting in a lot of smoke (hence why most contemporary paintings of the Potteries shroud the land in dark grey clouds). Given this, having the saggar to protect the ware from the dirt & the smoke was essential (especially given that tableware is at least partially meant to be a decorative item).
