You know how when you walk into old buildings, especially old commercial buildings, you see these fantastic pressed tin ceilings? Well I love that look, & to me it evokes a golden age of building & decorative arts. Plus these old pressed tin tiles are highly versatile. You can frame them & hang them as wall art, you can install them as a stove back splash, you can paint them or leave them chippy, & I'm sure you can think of other creative ways to re-purpose them. I rescued these from a commercial factory building in Brooklyn, New York. It has a wonderful & unusual starburst design typical of the exuberant Art Deco period. I'm pretty sure it is from the 1920s, but it could be a little older but probably not older than 1900. The tile measures about 24" by 24", & there is a little variation to the dimensions given the challenges of carefully extracting these from the building & then separating each tile. It has flaking paint, creases, small holes, rust, perimeter damage, & so on. They range in condition, & the first 4 photos show the better condition & the last 6 photos show the tile in the worst condition. I have 8 tiles remaining & most are closer to the better condition one. Some of them have footprints from the workers who helped de-construct the building. It is fairly flat & will be shipped as flat as possible. Please handle it carefully when you receive it because the edges can be quite sharp & I recommend you use gloves when handling the sharp edges. You get ONE large tin tile & FREE shipping within the United States. I'll gladly combine shipping with other items whenever possible. For shipment elsewhere, please contact me for a shipping quote.
