Hi all! These are huge fossil Polished Echinoid (Mepygurus marmonti) from the Jurassic of Madagascar! Echinoids, aka sea urchins, are small filter feeding echinoderms (the group that includes starfish & crinoids) that are covered in spines & live on the sea floor. This species is often called a sand dollar even though true sand dollars didn't appear in the fossil record until about 100 million years later. One side has been polished to show detail! They all measure over 3 inches across, most about 3.5 inches! You will receive one Sand Dollar per order. Pictured are the available sand dollars. The second picture shows what the unpolished side usually look like. You may pick whichever one you want. If I don't hear from you before shipping then one will be picked at random.
