Late 18th/Early 19th C Fichu - Quaker from the Johnson Family Estate This fichu was found among some of the earliest clothing & samplers. Since it was in Jennett (Roland) Johnson's belongings we are assumimng it belonged to her by the signature. Jennett Rowland married Samuel Johnson in 1805. This is her fichu. Fashioned out a a very fine linen, it measures 46 inches wide & 28 inches long on each diagonal. Condition is good but used. There are no rips, holes or tears but there is light foxing throughout except for the spots shown in the photos. The fabric is nice & strong. It is very finely stitched on the two hemmed sides. This has Quaker provenance & a ties to a prominent & influential Philadelphia family. Antique Quaker Woman's Fichu
