Caption for the illustration as published is attached.Born in Oxford 7 Aug 1836, but baptised in London at St. Pancras 23 Mar 1837, Henry William Brewer was the son of John Sherren Brewer, the clergyman and historian later to become Professor of English at King's College, London, and his wife Harriett Mary Nicholas, who had married in 1832. He attended school in Norwich and married Frances Mary Mottley (1842-1927) in Germany 7 Jul 1862. His older children were born in Bavaria. He was a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects. A frequent exhibitor at the Royal Academy and elsewhere from 1858 onwards. He also produced a series of views of London, showing the city in the time of Henry VIII, later published as ?Old London illustrated? He died 6 Oct 1903 and probate on effects of £1,490.10s. was granted to his widow 26 Oct 1903
