Original etching in its first state ( Hind 109-I) of the temple of saturn with a corner of the arch of Septimius Severus in the foreground. Signed below left, Cavaliere Piranesi.This first state printed in 1774 just four years before the death of Piranesi ( 1720-1778). The etching represents with touches of chiaroscuro and dramatic effects with strong imprint os superb quality. Piranesi is considered the most important engraver at Rome during the XVIII century.
