8vo (21 x 30 cm), loose as issued in publisher's printed wrappers, publisher's decorated slipcase. First edition. Text by Marcel Moreau. 10 color lithographs, numbered and signed by Pierre Alechinsky. From the CoBrA movement, Pierre Alechinsky kept the nostalgia of a community of spirit and thought. Painting and drawing are solitary activities. Books and prints are done by many, creating links with writers such as André Frénaud, Eugène Ionesco, Amos Kenan, Cioran and Joyce Mansour. From the edition limited to 99 copies on Rives paper. On Moreau's manuscripts, swirling with illegibility, Pierre Alechinsky draws a primitive cartoon. Both artists disappear behind the only act of creation: the movement of the tip of the pen for the writer, the one with the felt-tip pen for the painter. Far away from the illustrated collection, this global book create a dialogue between two form of art: literature and graphic works, with junction's residing on ink and paper. Alechinsky, a story-telling artist, a graphic writer who refuses to accept the term "illustration", puts himself face to Moreau who embodies the birth of an image by its simple handwriting. The anarchic arrangement of the author's words on his sheets of paper, and their dimension already visual and plastic, opens up the painter's imagination, who uses them to create fantastical, almost mythological scenes. A condition report and additional images are available on request.
