From the Cubist fundamentals developed by Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, Juan Gris succeeded in constructing his own personal approach. During the 1920s, he produced a series of still lifes accompanied by everyday objects: bottles, glasses, books and musical instruments. The drawings that illustrate "Zywe linje" were made by the artist in September 1924. They show his environment, portraits and still lifes, as a synthesis, in contrast to the experiments of the Dadaists and abstract painters. Association copy, inscribed by Tadeusz Peiper to the Polish poet Edward Kozikowski. A member of the Czartak literary group alongside Emil Zegadlowicz, Edward Kozikowski is the author of several collections of poems, including "Koniec Hortensji Europy" published in 1924.
