The first British edition, published one year before the American and much rarer. vii, 337 pp. Bound in publisher's scarlet cloth lettered in gilt and black with decorative blind stamped scarab beetles at center of boards. Very Good with moderate soiling and rippling to cloth, darkening to spine, rubbing at extremities and dust soiling to top edge of text block. Offsetting and foxing to endsheets, inner hinge tender, contents toned and slightly brittle at edges. Stoker's notable supernatural horror novel featuring a resurrected Egyptian Queen mummy. Published the same year Howard Carter uncovered the tomb of Queen Hatshephut and later reworked in subsequent editions with a much happier, less grisly ending. Dalby 14(a).
