FIRST EDITION, VERY RARE SIGNED LIMITED DELUXE ISSUE, OF WARHOL'S FIRST BOOK OF PHOTOGRAPHS. Exposures, Warhol's first photography book, began quite simply with the purchase of a new camera. As Warhol began taking pictures, he remarked to the writer Bob Colacello: "We should do a photography book together, Bob. We've got to take photographs wherever we go from now on. It's work now, Bob." Warhol's collection of 360 images captures countless major celebrities in candid and revealing moments. With illuminating text by Warhol and Bob Colacello. Signed in pencil on the limitation page and numbered 82/1000. Note: Although the limitation indicates there were 1000 copies in this signed limited edition, this seems to have been fabricated by Warhol. It is estimated that fewer than 200 were produced with gold title stamping (as here) and approximately 50 copies with silver stamping. New York: Andy Warhol Books / Grosset & Dunlap, 1979. Quarto, original full leather with gilt "Andy Warhol" on front cover, silk endpapers, all edges gilt. With attached silk bookmark. Housed in custom silk box. A beautiful production. RARE.
