With a frontis. photo illustration of the U.S. Treasury in Washington, D.C. with tissue guard, Preface, Table of Contents, List of Authorities Consulted, and List of Illustrations. The following are the chapters of the history -- Early Banking; Republic of Venice; Gold Florin; Bank of Barcelona; Bank of Amsterdam; Rise of English Commerce; Founder of the Bank, William Paterson; Renewals of Charter; Unclaimed Funds; Bank of Scotland; Institution of 1796; Early Colonial Currency; Mixed Currency of New York; First Continental Congress; Report of Alexander Hamilton; Deposit Banks; Election of Abraham Lincoln; National Currency Act. Including the frontis. there are thirty-six (36) mostly b&w photo plate illustrations, many of which come after the last page of the text (p. 204). This book is in my inventory and the images are from this particular item. *** Bound in off-white cloth boards and spine. The front cover has stamped decoration and lettering, the back cover stamped decoration, the spine with a label with gold lettering. The covers are worn at corners and along some edges with scattered soil and staining. The contents are clean and complete in a good binding. Some of the plates have light foxing in margins. Some of the tissue guards have tears and/or misfolds. Rebound and resewn with new spine and label, new end papers and old end papers, reinforced hinges since it is a heavy book. *** 14 inches tall by 11 inches.
