From my personal collection, this is a copy of "The New Newport News News", privately printed by C. W Brooks, Jr in 1968. The fanzine is in new condition and has been owned by me since roughly 2015. I bought it privately from a renowned literary critic and agent, who was close friends with Ned Brooks. Basically the 'zine, prior to my purchase, had laid hidden in a filing cabinet of Mr Brooks since publication in 1968. It contains a non fiction piece by Dean Koontz called, "Yes I do." It discusses his teaching, his two published novels, his wife Gerda, his family's disgust of books as a waste of money, the genre, his publication of shorts in adult magazine and a rant about the way Sci-Fi writers are maligned. I am also including the accompanying correspondence that came with the magazine which also refers to an unpublished edition of SF Opinion 8, a sci-fi fanzine published - allegedly - by Dean during that era. I corresponded with Dean nearly 30 years before the relationship petered out, and I asked him about this. Whilst I won't provide the correspondence with him because it contains personal information about Dean's life and my own, he said he could not remember meeting Ned Brooks ever, "but then, it was nearly 50 years ago" - he also said "it was complicated."
