Condition Report Externally Spine - good condition - gilt titles and volume numbers on twin black and light green labels, four raised gilt bands, compartments with gilt decoration, worn and rubbed to some of the compartments and to the top and base of the spine. Joints - good condition - rubbed and worn, some cracks starting but sound to the hinges. Corners - good condition - rubbed and worn. Boards - good condition - polished calf boards with gilt wolf's head . Page edges - good condition - top edges darkened, all tanned. Binding - good condition - attractive. See above and photos. Internally Hinges - good condition - sound. Paste downs - good condition - marbled paper, worming to Vol V. End papers - good condition - marbled paper, subsequently tanned, worming to Vol V. Title - good condition - tanned with some foxing, worming to Vol V. Pages - good condition - with 13 portraits, many with offsetting to the opposite page, 9 maps / charts / plans many of which are folding, and 9 Engraved plates and 1 facsimile, pages are tanned and foxed throughout mostly to the plates, worming to the first 6 pages Vol V and very small worming to the bottom margins of the folding plate (Attack of Algiers) and subsequent page and plate of the Viscount of Exmouth to Vol V, creased to the edges of the first few pages and frontispiece of Vol II.
