First edition, reproduced from typescript. 239pp. Bound in publisher's printed wraps. Near Fine with manuscript title to spine, light toning, soiling and wear. One of the final publications of the War Relocation Authority, the governmental agency responsible for overseeing the mass incarceration of Japanese people in America during World War II. Written by four cultural anthropologists, this explores the damaging psychological and social effects internment had on the population, from evacuation to establishment in the artificial West Coast communities, to the lifting of the exclusion orders. While reprinted by the University of Arizona Press in 1969, original copies are scarce.
