Second impression from 1955. Originally published by Allen and Unwin in 1954. Light bumping to the top corners and a little fading to the bottom edge of the spine. Slight spine lean. Page edges slightly browned with some fading to the red colouring on the top edges and there is slight browning to the pages which are otherwise unmarked. Map attached to rear free endpaper in very good condition. The jacket has browning to the spine where the red lettering is a little faded, slight chipping at the top and bottom and there is a small stain to the bottom half. Patchy browning to the front panel. The rear panel has a two inch closed tear at the top right corner, some browning and some small stains near the bottom edge. This copy was originally owned by Professor Philip Grierson, who was a Fellow of Gonville & Caius College for over 70 years and a Professor of Numismatics at the University of Cambridge. He was also a lifelong reader and collector of science fiction. Also in stock, in similar condition, are the two other books in the trilogy, both published in 1955, which he had in his collection.
