The meaning of its modern name Angkor Wat is "Temple City" in the Khmer language. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple in 1150 CE it was transformed into the Buddhist temple by the end of the century. It covers an area of some 400 acres with restoration efforts by a conglomerate of international agencies intensifying in the 20th Century to date. The restoration process has been an ongoing process since it's discovery by the French in the early 1800s. Text in French. Part I, Vol. 1: Dustjacket with light wear and lightly sunned along edges.
