The Lord of the Rings, 1960 Set, Impr. 8, 7, 6 with slipcase J.R.R. Tolkien J.R.R. Tolkien

Allen and Unwin. all 1960 Impressions 8,7,6 Minor tattering to jacket corners and spine ends, but lovely overall. FotR has darkening to spine gilt, like causes to bleeding of the cheap ink from the cover. (old damp) FotR jacket has large patches of the red bleeding onto the reverse of the jacket, but doesn't come through to the cover, fortunately. TT and RotK have reading creases and bright spine. All completely dry, bindings tight and otherwise clean. Uniform wear and colour to jackets and books, indicating it was purchased as a set and in the 3rd state slipcase.Slipcase is much worse for wear, stains, but now so rare still very valuable. These earlier printing first edition sets are getting harder to find in collectible condition. You want to aim for the earliest impressions while also being complete and presentable esthetically. This set is as good as they come on aging, while still being early printings.
