small 4to. full black aniline cowhide, slipcase. not paginated. With "Hiroshima: New Dawn" by Robert Penn Warren. Limited to 1500 numbered copies signed by Hersey, Warren, and Jacob Lawrence, who created the eight silk screens for this dramatic book (LEC 527). A fine copy in near fine slipcase. This was the first appearance of the Warren poem. Handset and printed at the Wild Carrot Letterpress. The eight silk screens were printed in eleven colors at the Studio Heinrici Ltd of New York. A memorable production - as Sidney Shiff, the publisher, described his effort " . we have endeavored to extract something beautiful out of the hell that was Hiroshima."
