In 1671 he entered the Franciscan Order and became a member of the Province of Bosnia and Croatia, which at that time included monasteries in the western part of Croatia as well as those in central and western Slovenia. He began his theological education at the theological school of the General College in Ljubljana, and continued and graduated in Milan and Rome. He earned the titles of professor of philosophy and theology in Venice and Rome. Upon his return to his homeland, he taught philosophy and, for thirteen years, theology at the seminaries in Trsat and Ljubljana. As a professor, he achieved the highest Franciscan educational title of "lector jubilatus". In his home province, which, however, changed its name to the Croatian-Carniolan Province of the Holy Cross, F. was twice definitor and provincial in the three-year period 1705 08. The Supreme Administration of the Franciscan Order authorized him to make canonical visits to the neighboring provinces of St. Ladislaus in Banska Croatia, the Most Holy Savior in Hungary, St. Leopold in Tyrol and St. Wenceslaus in Bohemia, which he did. From 1689, with interruptions, he was the keeper of the Trsat shrine and the guardian of the monastery for two decades.
