Joseph Spengler (1736-1776) Professor at Dillingen; born on December 6, 1736, in Constance on Lake Constance, became a Jesuit and teacher of mathematics at the University of Dillingen, and died there on November 28, 1776. Matth00E4us Rieger (1705 - 1775 in Augsburg) was a German bookseller and publisher. Rieger's bookstore and publishing house developed into one of the largest of its time. His dealers traveled throughout Germany, as well as to Vienna, Bolzano, and Strasbourg. Its main sales territory included Swabia, Bavaria, the Austrian hereditary lands, and the Catholic cantons of Switzerland. A branch was opened in Leipzig in 1774. The publishing house published over 1,000 titles and was continued by the sons. Catoptrics deals with the phenomena of reflected light and image-forming optical systems using mirrors. A catoptric system is also called a catopter (catoptre). In contrast, Dioptrics is the branch of optics dealing with refraction, especially by lenses. First edition. Complete plates.
