Three volumes rebound in full coarse grained morocco leather with gilt titles and four raised bands to the spine, gilt rules to the compartments, gilt titles to the front board along with the original gilt scarab beetles to a black background on morocco leather panels to each front board. Profusely illustrated with photographic plates, a good set. Internally foxed and with some marks and corners folded, overall good, plates collated and complete. The set comes protected in a leather and cloth covered slipcase box. Vol 1 - xxiii, [i], 231pp with 104 photographic plates, collated and complete, frontispiece frayed and worn around the edges; Vol 2 - xxxiv, 277pp with 156 photographic plates, collated and complete, frontispiece gently worn around the edges; Vol 3 - xvi, 248pp with 153 photographic plates, collated and complete, final plate pages included in the pagination as called for. Approximately 9 ½ inches tall, slipcase box 10 inches tall. Condition Report Externally Spine - fine condition - gilt titles, author's name to the spine, Mace's name to Vol 1 only as co-author. Joints - fine condition. Corners - fine condition. Boards - fine condition - full morocco leather, with author's name to all vols, Mace co-author to Vol 1 only, original scarab beetle on a black leather background onlaid to the front board of all volumes. Page edges - good condition - top edge darkened others tanned and foxed. Binding - very good condition - attractive set. See above and photos. Internally Hinges - very good condition - secure. Paste downs - very good condition - facsimile of the original end papers. End papers - very good condition - facsimile of the original end papers.
