First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author to his biographer and bibliographer, David A. Jasen, "To David all the best from Plum, P. G. Wodehouse, 16 Oct. 1963", to the front free endpaper. David A. Jasen (1937-2022), ragtime scholar, performer, and a leading Wodehouse authority, shared a passion for music with the prolific humourist who was also famed during his lifetime as a musical lyricist. Jasen acknowledged that only Wodehouse's close friends and family knew him as "Plum", and his personal bond with the author was immortalized when Jasen became the dedicatee of Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves (1963). The third novel in the Blandings series was published in Britain later the same year under the title Summer Lightning. Jasen 42; McIlvaine A41a. Octavo. Original brown cloth, spine and front cover lettered in yellow, fish device in yellow to front cover. Remnants of dust jacket loosely inserted. Ownership inscription to front free endpaper; numerical stamp to rear free endpaper. Small frays to spine ends, covers slightly marked, contents shaken but sound. A good copy.
