3 volumes. Blue cloth lettered in gold. The covers are blue with over-all repeat floral pattern in reddish gilt. Yellow-sepia flowered endpapers. In very good condition. Nice bright copies. Some very minor rubbing to edges, corners a little bumped. Volume I has a few very faint tiny white speckles lower spine and front board of volume II. Each front endpaper has small pen neatly written number in top corner. Inside some very light tsanning, a few minor foxing spots, else clean & tight. Size 7.5 x 5 inches Very scarce. Only 500 copies were printed of this first edition in 3 volumes. This is one of only seven multi-volume titles by Henty. The story is set in the Indian "Mutiny", the widespread but unsuccessful rebellion against British rule in India in 1857-9. " In the 1890s, among the last three-deckers to appear in Britain, Chatto and Windus published four novels by Henty. Henty wrote more than 90 novels.
