A novel of psychological horror, in which a 9-year-old girl gets separated from her family during a hike in the forest, and is forced to fend for herself with minimal supplies for survival. As days pass and supplies dwindle, a combination of hunger, thirst, and fear take over and cause her to hallucinate, and she battles both nature and her own mind in her quest to survive. The book was rushed into publication to informally celebrate King's 25th anniversary in publishing. Provenance: Through the trade, from the library of American poet and novelist Stephen Dobyns. Brooks A67.1.
