Printed on vellum using Caslon type with hand-colored frontispiece woodcut by Paul Woodroffe (misattributed in the colophon to Will Rothenstein with subsequent correction added onto the limitation page). Hand-colored tailpiece on final page opposite the colophon. Illuminated initial letters in various colors by Raymond Binns. Stiff vellum binding with rose and phrase "Soul Is Form' blind-stamped on the front cover, gilt lettering on spine. Wood-engraved ex-libris of Sir Edward Robert Pearce Edgcumbe (a friend of Thomas Hardy) on front pastedown. Protected with a clear archival Grafix Dura Lar dust wrapper._____Slight even dustsoiling (natural discoloration of vellum due to age) of the stiff vellum binding, gilt titling on spine easily legible but a bit faded on the word "Duchess", vertical crease on lower half of book spine. Interior vellum pages in fine condition with toning or foxing._____DiISCUSSION: The Essex House Press was founded by Charles Robert Ashbee with the intent of becoming the continuation of the Kelmscott Press following William Morris' death. The 14-volume 'Great Poet Series' of small slim editions printed on vellum pages with hand-colored frontispieces and illumination, bound in stiff vellum with blind stamped front cover design, is one of the high points of the Essex House Press.
