Later impression with the revised illustration on page 14. A noticeboard within this illustration, reading "Peter Rabbit & Mother - Florists - Gardens neatly razed. Borders devastated by the night or year", was removed from the third impression onwards to avoid difficulty for foreign translators. The jacket includes The Tale of Mr Tod and The Tale of Pigling Bland as new books in "Series II" on the rear panel. These titles were published in 1912 and 1913 respectively. The front flap includes an advertisement for Peter Rabbit's Painting Book and Tom Kitten's Painting Book. These titles were published in 1911 and 1917 respectively. Original brown boards, spine and front cover lettered in white, front cover with pictorial label, pictorial endpapers. With glassine dust jacket. Housed in folding box replicating pictorial label on front. Head of spine slightly bumped, a few minor tears to foot of jacket spine, very minor wear to lower edge: a near-fine copy in like jacket.
