Entries contain standard bibliographic information followed by Sandford's comments on the author, the work, the printing, the edition, the illustrator, and/or whatever else he wishes to mention. There are 200 illustrations of woodcuts and wood engravings by about 40 different illustrators: Book illustrations, title page designs, borders, head- and tailpieces, vignettes, and more than enough variations on the Golden Cockerel device.
