William Penn's A Call to Repentance was printed in London in 1745 by T. Sowle Raylton and Luke Hinde. The tract adapts Penn's earlier Address to Protestants upon the present conjuncture and broadens it into a moral appeal to the people of Britain. The work identifies excess, gambling, profanity, drunkenness, and sexual immorality as social dangers, each treated in its own section. These subjects reflect Penn's Quaker beliefs and his consistent appeal for restraint and upright conduct. This octavo volume, approximately 7.75 by 5 inches, is bound in a later hardcover with gilt decoration on the front cover. Condition is Very Good, with a firm binding and clean pages throughout. Collation is complete, without illustrations. This 1745 edition remains a significant printing from influential Quaker publishers of the period. #29244 PHOTOS AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.
