First edition, first issue. This copy is from the library of James H. Heineman (1917-1994), "the world's foremost collector of Wodehouse memorabilia" (Plum Lines). The White Feather was initially serialized in six parts between October 1905 to March 1906 for The Captain. Heineman's bookplate is a delightful homage to Wodehouse, featuring a plum (the author's nickname), a typewriter, a pair of glasses, a pipe, a roadster, a top hat, a scarf reading "Wooster", and a garland featuring references to places and characters from Wodehouse's novels. McIlvaine A8a. Plum Lines: The Quarterly Newsletter of the Wodehouse Society, vol. 15, no. 3, Autumn 1994. Octavo. Frontispiece, and 11 plates by W. Townend. Original brown cloth, spine and front cover lettered and decorated in gilt, black, and white. Lacking front free endpaper. Rubbing to cloth, slight wear to ends and corners, occasional light foxing. A good copy.
