Exemplary copy of this comprehensive work which includes Oliver's work on Masonic symbolism along with a supplement including definitions, terms, and history. This copy with an interesting provenance, being owned by Samuel M. Todd of New Orleans.Todd (1815-1905) served as Grand Master of Masons in Louisiana in 1859, 1868, and 1870-1872. He was also grand commander of the Knights Templar of Louisiana in 1866-67. This book went through several editions, with the later ones crediting only Macoy, and with Oliver's portrait removed. The first of 1867 is scarce, and ever more so in this condition. 8vo, [v], viii, 556pp. Portrait frontis, vignette engravings in the text.
