First edition, presentation copy, inscribed by the author to his biographer and bibliographer, David A. Jasen, "To David from Plum, P. G. Wodehouse", on the front free endpaper. David A. Jasen (1937-2022), ragtime scholar, performer, and a leading Wodehouse authority, shared a passion for music with the prolific humourist who was also famed during his lifetime as a musical lyricist. Jasen acknowledged that only Wodehouse's close friends and family knew him as "Plum", and his personal bond with the author was immortalized when Jasen became the dedicatee of Stiff Upper Lip, Jeeves (1963). This Blandings novel continues the conflict between Lord Emsworth, Sir Gregory Parsloe, and their two porcine entrants at the Shropshire Agricultural Show. The US publication preceeded the UK edition by a fortnight. Jasen 72; McIlvaine A73a. Octavo. Original grey boards, spine lettered in white. With dust jacket. A couple of bumps to edges, toning to contents; jacket a little rubbed, shallow chips to ends and corners, closed tear to head of front flap fold, couple of marks, front flap clipped, retaining price: a near-fine copy in very good jacket.
