With Specimens of eleven Original Tokens Struck Especially for this Book. Limited to 300 numbered copies of which this is one of 10 special copies meant for the printer, Henry Morris, and containing that notice in the colophon along with a specially minted Bird & Bull token in silver (Berger A47). This is copy E-2, for Enterprise Books, one of the collaborators for the book, with the facsimile letter from Longman to Arthur W. Waters loosely inserted. Spine lightly faded, else a near fine copy in near fine slipcase. Bound by Barbara Blumenthal. Eleven participants collaborated with this book, including Robert D. Fleck, Jr. of Oak Knoll Books & Press. Contains numerous b&w plates, including one folding plate. The text was composed in Van Dijck types by Othmar Peters at Mackenzie-Harris Corp, in San Francisco. The book is accompanied by eleven copper tokens and one silver token. The tokens were made under the supervision of Meyer Katz at the Unity Mint in Ambler, PA., from dies engraved by Kenneth Douglas in Olive Branch, MS. The composition of the tokens is 95% copper and 5% tin and zinc, the same as was the U.S. cent prior to 1982. The Bird & Bull Press silver token is 100% silver. With bibliography describing tokens and a short history of the firms who contributed tokens to the book. From the prospectus: "The purpose of this book is to acquaint the reader with these book-related collectibles which have been sporadically issued by British and American booksellers and bookmakers from the 17th to the 19th centuries.
