B-4M? 4N 4T-4V?; text in Latin and Spanish; the prelims slightly misbound but all leaves present; printer's woodcut device on title page and verso of last leaf; large heraldic woodcut on verso of Francisco González de Heredia, to whom the work is dedicated; woodcut initials and ornaments; first 2 leaves remargined, the following 17 leaves with some restoration to the fore-margins, the terminal leaf also remargined; final 6 leaves with worming in the bottom margins, fortunately with no loss of letterpress; 18th-century full speckled calf, gilt-decorated spine in 6 compartments, red morocco label in one; faults aside, a very good, sound and clean copy. The first Spanish edition of Horace, translated by Juan Villar de Biedma. OCLC contains this note: "The Obras contain major portions of the original Latin texts, together with a prose translation running interpretive commentary of . all the known works of Horace. It is not entirely impossible that 'Villen de Biedma' is a pseudonym of Diego Lopez, whose first translation with commentaries in the manner of Biedma, appeared the following year . "; cf. T.S.
