Full morocco leather binding, with 2 original coins from the reigns of Hadrian (117-138) and Maximinus (235-238) bound into the front board, gilt titles to the spine, five raised bands, blind stamped to both boards, with the two coins mounted and visible externally and internally, new end papers and paste downs, text block tight, page edges darkened tanned and untrimmed. Hadrian (24 January 76 - 10 July 138) was Roman emperor from 117 to 138. Gaius Julius Verus Maximinus "Thrax" (c. 173 - 238, also spelled as Maximin in some English modern texts) was a Roman emperor from 235 to 238. Born of Thracian origin - given the nickname Thrax ("the Thracian") - he rose up through the military ranks, ultimately holding high command in the army of the Rhine under Emperor Severus Alexander. Condition Report Externally Spine - very good condition - gilt titles, five raised bands, gilt lined compartments. Joints - very good condition. Corners - very good condition. Boards - very good condition - full leather blind stamped boards, with 2 original Roman coins of the Emperor Hadrian and Maximinus bound into the front board. Page edges - very good condition - top edge darkened, fore and bottom edges untrimmed, tanned and foxed. Slipcase - very good condition. Binding - very good condition - attractive. End papers - very good condition - new. Title - very good condition - red and black text, lightly tanned.
