Printed for private circulation by Hazell, Watson and Viney, Ltd. in 1899 ~ approximately eighty copies._____CONDITION: VG+. Light scuffing to the covers, more so to the rear cover (see photos). Top corner of rear cover bumped and lightly rubbed. Light foxing to rear (blank) of several facsimile & engraving plates. Two small ex-libris on front pastedown. Light foxing to front and rear pastedowns and free endplates. Otherwise, remarkably clean with nearly all text pages, facsimiles and engravings free of foxing. _____DISCUSSION: The John Rylands Library of University of Manchester has one of the finest and most important collections of early English bibles and the avowed goal of this edition was "to make it the best catalogue of English Bibles in existence." This book contains a complete and accurate description of each bible from the bibliographical standpoint and the history of each work in the evolution of the bible text's English translation. Organized chronologically with table of contents and lists of the facsimiles and engravings. Overall, a handsome copy of an exceedingly scarce and important book, many of which are now in institutional hands.
