A staggeringly lovely set, complete in six volumes in 14 parts, PLUS THE SCARCE INDEX, of Harold William Rickett's magnus opus. The full set was published under the General Editorship of William C. Steere, of the New York Botanical Garden, for them, by the McGraw-Hill Book Company, New York, between 1964 (when first concept was committed to paper) and 1973 (when Volume 6 came out). Small folio format hardcover exemplars, handsomely bound in various colors of buckram cloth, with unbruised tips, tight bindings, clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear (if any); not ex-library, with neither underlining nor highlighting anywhere. Illustrated endpapers outline the states in question in view of a full-U.S. country map, each in tri-tone. Double-page title pages denote author, publishers, general editors, illustrators, printers and others. Each but the fifth volume housed in uber-sturdy, illustrated paper-covered cardboard slip-cases. Little if at all used volumes, the gilt-titled spines still crackling, the interiors being fresh and bright. Gorgeous black-and-white illustrations hors-text, full-color, ditto, and full-color photographic plates, too. All in, a collector's dream. Volume 1 (1966), The Northeastern States, "From the Atlantic to Minnesota and Missouri, and from the Canadian Border to Missouri."
