DESCRIPTION: Folio size 41 x 31 cm, unpaginated, published in 1992 by Alice Gertrud and H.R. Bosch-Gwalter. Edition of 60 copies, standard edition numbered 1 to 50 and a special edition of 10 copies designated with letters A to K. The special edition also contains a separate suite of the original etchings, all signed by Erni, as well as a cancelled steel mounted copper plate etched by Erni. Full leather binding from Buchbinderei Burkhardt in Mönchaltdorf with facial profile illustration in leather inlays on both front and rear covers, contained within original quarter-leather folding cover with dark brown felt lining and Yapp-like leather lined edges. The folder and book then insert into a brown paper-covered slipcase with leather trim around the slipcase opening. Illustrated with ten original full page etchings by Hans Erni reproduced from copper plates etched by Erni and another original etching in white-on-black. Handset type by Willibald Voeilkin in 28-point Van Dijck -Antiqua printed letterpress with his Roman press Vindonissa on 300 gsm French Velin Rives handmade paper made from pure rags. Signed in the colophon by the artist, the printers, the bookbinder and the publishing couple. German language text / Deutsche Sprache. This is one of only 10 deluxe copies identified as copy K. The cancelled copper plate is contained within a stiff folder (portfolio) covered with oatmeal linen cloth. IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS COPY FOR SALE DOES NOT CONTAIN THE ADDITIONAL (SEPARATE) SIGNED SUITE OF ORIGINAL HANS ERNI ETCHINGS. ____CONDITION: Tiny area of darkening to the leather lip (Yapp-type edge) of the folder holding the full leather book with inlay work. The round mark on upper right of the steel copper plate (see last photo) is a photo artifact. The book, slipcase and cancelled copper plate in hardbound linen-covered folder are all in fine condition. ____DISCUSSION: This is a beautiful livre d'artiste German language edition of The Song of Solomon (Das Hohe Lied von Salomo) with full page illustrations by Hans Erni.
