First appearance in book form of these two learned treatises by the Victorian sportsman and clergyman Gage Earle Freeman (1820-1903). "This little book, written from personal experience of the author, has done much to keep alive the traditions of falconry and encourage its modern revival" (Harting). Both treaties were published earlier in the newspaper The Field under the pseudonym 'Peregrine'. Publisher's blue sand-grain cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, top edge untrimmed, others trimmed. Cloth generally clean with light shelf wear, endpapers and text fresh. A near-fine copy.
