A very scarce collection of four limited-edition antiquarian works by Scottish artist and historian James Drummond, handsomely bound as one by Andrew Grieve of Edinburgh, including a volume inscribed by the author to philanthropist John Ritchie Findlay. Bound in a half morocco binding with cloth boards, bound by Andrew Grieve, Edinburgh. A finely preserved collection of four scarce limited editions of these antiquarian works by James Drummond, R.S.A. (1816 1877), bound as one. Drummond was a Scottish artist, antiquary, and curator of the National Gallery of Scotland, renowned for his meticulous studies of Scottish history and arms. Each work is a limited edition, privately printed in very small numbers, three of which are signed by John Ritchie Findlay, Esq, a noted philanthropist and proprietor of The Scotsman newspaper, with one copy inscribed to John Ritchie Findlay, Esq. from the author. Highland Targets and Other Shields (1873). Copy number twenty three of fifty printed for private circulation; illustrated with seven plates. Collated, complete. Illustrated with seven plates and inscribed by Drummond to Findlay, "With the best regards." Collated, complete. Bound in a half morocco binding with cloth boards. Externally, very smart. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities resulting in very minor loss to morocco. Slight rubbing to boards. Slight fading to extremities. The odd handling mark with one or two spots of damp staining to rear board. Very Good Indeed
